Lower Horse Paddock, Broadcroft Quarry Lane and Broadcroft Butterfly Reserve

Another grey miserable day, but at least the rain eased off for a late afternoon walk around the "block".

Just the one Stonechat in the Lower Horse paddock. I'm not sure where the female was, if indeed she is still around.

What were also missing were the 2 Redwing, 3 Song Thrush, Meadow Pipits and the 2 Pied Wagtails. It was a fairly late walk, so perhaps they were at their respective roosts.

Here are a few images from this afternoon:

This male Stonechat was on the builders fence at the southern end of the Lower Horse paddock.

This Blue Tit allowed me to get within a few feet of it and posed nicely with a bit of fill-in flash.

A very distant shot of one of the resident Buzzards. This one is sat on one of the gas vents in the landfill site.

The Primroses look stunning in Broadcroft Quarry Butterfly Reserve.

Winter Heliotrope, Petasites fragrans

This one very muddy dog. Go Ted go.

Birds Recorded: 1 Buzzard, Herring Gull, Wood Pigeon, Dunnock, Robin, 1 Stonechat, Blackbird,
Great Tit, Blue Tit, Wren, Magpie, Carrion Crow, Jackdaw, 3 Starling, House Sparrow, Chaffinch and Goldfinch
